Company Profile

Tianjin's water supply industry dates back to 1898. By 1949, it had evolved into two distinct production and supply systems: the publicly operated Tianjin Water Plant and the privately owned Ji'an Water Company.
In March 1950, by order of the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, the Tianjin Water Company and Ji'an Water Company merged to form the government-administered Tianjin Water Supply Company.
In April 1996, as one of Tianjin's first pilot enterprises for establishing a modern corporate system, the company was renamed Tianjin Water Works Group Co., Ltd.
In June 2000, amid municipal institutional reforms, the company was restructured into a wholly state-owned enterprise group under the administration of the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.
In November 2015, the company merged into the newly established Tianjin Water Group. Following asset transfers, the divestiture of non-core water supply units, and adjustments to service areas and management functions, it was repositioned in November 2016 as a regional tap water production, supply, and marketing unit under Tianjin Water Group. It has a registered capital of RMB 1.825 billion.
Over the years, the company has developed core business segments encompassing tap water production, supply maintenance, and marketing services. Its primary operations involve regional tap water production, management, supply, and marketing, supplemented by purified water production and designated sales, as well as desalinated seawater distribution. The company operates 15 branches and subsidiaries, managing tap water production, supply, and marketing across Tianjin's Heping District, Hexi District, Nankai District, Hongqiao District, Xiqing District, Jinnan District, Jinghai District, and parts of Beichen District. Its eight branches include the First through Fifth Marketing Branches, Xiqing Branch (Yangliuqing Water Plant), Lingzhuang Water Plant, and Jieyuan Water Plant. Its seven subsidiaries are Tianjin Water Works Group Jinnan Water Co., Ltd., Tianjin Water Works Group Jinghai Water Co., Ltd., Tianjin Huacheng Water Supply Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., Tianjin Jinmiao Water Purification Technology Co., Ltd., Tianjin Huaze Water Supply Engineering Technology Development Co., Ltd., Tianjin Huatailong Seawater Desalination Co., Ltd., and Tianjin Water Works Group Jinrun Water Supply Equipment Technology Co., Ltd.

With  3.2848 million installed water meters, the company serves a population of more than 5.2 million.
